CONGO's web interface, called 'Coconut', is a Java / JSP based set of tools that provide a fast, easy interface into CONGO internals. Coconut is designed for a conference administrator to use, allowing configuration of CONGO, maintenance of registrant information, report writing, and event management.
Coconut is designed specifically for the event manager(s). General access to registrant information, such as self-serve registration and attendee personal screens can be managed via Coconut's template editor. The 'public' user interface is still under development.
Screenshots of Coconut:
- Main screen
Coconut's main screen. Users without administrative access will obviously not see the 'Administration' section.
- Searching
CONGO has powerful search capability to allow fast lookups of registrants while manning the registration desk at an event. Just typing any part of a first name, last name, company name, or badge name, and Coconut presents a list of possible matches.
- Registrant Detail
Coconut presents a detailed view of a registrant once they've been looked up, showing history of previously attended events, as well as their current status and contact information. From here, an administrator can review a registrants history, transactions status, or do standard functions such as print a badge, change their contact information, etc.
- Registration screen
This screen allows the operator to register a person for an event. Transactions may be processed immediately (such as credit cards), or deferred for later processing. The operator also has the option to print the badge immediately (for at-con checkins), or generate email to the registrant (for pre-registration).
- Database reporting
It's just as important to get information out of your database as it is to enter it. CONGO and Coconut provide plenty of reporting tools, such as this registrant status report, showing how many people registered under each registration type, and how many of them have been badged. Using this report, it's possible to see how many no-shows (people who registered, but did not attend the event) there are on a per-registration type basis.
- System Configuration
Configuration of the CONGO application server is primarily accomplished via Coconut. Settings go active in the server and can be changed on the fly with no ill effects.
- Custom badge design
What's a good event without great looking badges? Coconut lets you configure your badge layout dynamically, placing elements on the badge wherever you like, using whatever sizing and font you wish. Several basic elements are provided (firstname + lastname, badgename, etc), and you choose where they should print.
Screenshots of the Public Interface:
- Main screen
Only half of CONGO is the administrative interface, Coconut - the other half is the 'public' interface that registrants attending the event will use to register, check their status and payment history, and check up on the latest news. The public interface is the newest part of CONGO, and is fully customizable.
